SYMPTOM:

Windows applications that require VSHARE.386 support will return a
message stating that SHARE.EXE must be loaded.  Booting with MS-DOS 6
and not loading SHARE does not return the message.  Following are
some applications that return messages along with a sample of the
message they may return:

Windows For Workgroups 3.11 network applications, MS Schedule+, MS
Mail return:

"...requires that the MS-DOS utility SHARE.EXE be run before Windows
is started."

Folio (NSEPro) returns:

"Unable to start Folio Server.  SHARE must be loaded [an error
occurred while trying to open a file for shared access]"

CAUSE:

Support for VSHARE is implemented differently between Novell DOS 7
(ND7) and MS-DOS 6.

MS-DOS 6 has VSHARE support built into it's kernel.  ND7 had VSHARE
support built into SHARE.EXE.  The level of support is the same. 
This is not a bug or a problem.

SOLUTION:

The customer needs to load SHARE in the AUTOEXEC.BAT file, i.e:

LH C:\NWDOS\SHARE /L:20 /F:1024
