TITLE: TASKMGR Incompatible w/ MS Mouse v9 and 10 DOCUMENT ID: TID800169 DOCUMENT REVISION: 1 DATE: 13Dec94 ALERT STATUS: Yellow README FOR: NA NOVELL PRODUCT and VERSION: NOVELL DOS 7.0 ABSTRACT: NA --------------------------------------------------------------------- DISCLAIMER: THE ORIGIN OF THIS INFORMATION MAY BE INTERNAL OR EXTERNAL TO NOVELL. NOVELL MAKES NO EXPLICIT OR IMPLIED CLAIMS TO THE VALIDITY OF THIS INFORMATION. --------------------------------------------------------------------- ISSUE: The Microsoft Mouse drivers v9.01 and 10.00 will not work properly with TASKMGR. Novell DOS engineers have been made aware of this situation. The precise problems depend upon which driver is being used and whether the user is taskswitching or multitasking. Note that in all descriptions below, the mouse driver was loaded before TASKMGR, as is required if mouse access is to be available in all tasks. ------------------------------------------------------------------- MOUSE.EXE 9.01 and taskswitcher: System will hang while loading TASKMGR. MOUSE.EXE 9.01 and multitasker: While under the multitasker, system will reboot when the user attempts to bring up an application which uses the mouse (ie EDIT, DOSKEY, FBX, etc). On some systems, reboot will not occur but the mouse pointer will jump around eratically. MOUSE.EXE 10.00 and taskswitcher: While under the taskswitcher, system will hang shortly after loading an application which uses the mouse. MOUSE.EXE 10.00 and multitasker: Either the mouse pointer will not respond at all, or it will jump around eratically. Occasional hanging may also occur. -------------------------------------------------------------------- The last Microsoft Mouse driver known to work with TASKGMR was MOUSE.COM 8.20. MOUSE.EXE 10.00 is the driver which ships with the Microsoft Intellipoint System. MOUSE.EXE 9.00 was not tested, as it has other problems not necessarily related to TASKMGR. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Any trademarks referenced in this document are the property of their respective owners.
