TITLE: Fastback ERROR #20: Not Enough Memory DOCUMENT ID: TID800155 DOCUMENT REVISION: 1 DATE: 22Nov94 ALERT STATUS: Yellow README FOR: NA NOVELL PRODUCT and VERSION: NOVELL DOS 7.0 ABSTRACT: NA --------------------------------------------------------------------- DISCLAIMER: THE ORIGIN OF THIS INFORMATION MAY BE INTERNAL OR EXTERNAL TO NOVELL. Try removing memory resident programs." CAUSES: Making more memory available did not help. This was tracked down to two factors, both of which have to be present for this error to occur: (1) "Write Verify" is marked (on) in the Backup Options section (2) there is a DOS environment variable called FBP_USER set. SOLUTIONS: Since Write Verify will only be on if you turn it on, you probably don't want to have to turn it off. Remove the DOS environment variable FBP_USER. Specifics: You can remove the DOS environment variable by editing the autoexec.bat and removing the line which sets it. Or, you can type the following at the command line just before starting Fastback Express: SET FBP_USER= Then press enter. This variable is used by Fastback Express to determine who the user is. If that user has a default backup configuration saved, it loads it automatically. Without the variable, your user name becomes "DEFAULT" and the system will try to load its own default configuration (in other words, it will load the DEFAULT user's Default Setup). You can set the DEFAULT user's Default Setup the same way you would set a specific user's Default Setup (having entered the program without a FBP_USER variable set, configure the backup in the manner you prefer and then select "Save Default Setup" from the "File" menu). Note that there is a difference between saving a setup file and saving your Default Setup. At anytime you can still load any other saved setup via the "load setup" option. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Any trademarks referenced in this document are the property of their respective owners.
