SYMPTOM:

With Novell DOS 7, when trying to load the ASPICD.SYS driver from
Adaptec on a 27xx Adaptec board with the ASPI7DOS.SYS manager, the
following error results:

"Adaptec ASPI Driver not available CD-ROM driver NOT LOADED: No valid
Adaptec host adapter."

The ASPICD.SYS driver in the CONFIG.SYS insists that the ASPI7DOS.SYS
did not load and it isn't going to load either--giving the above
error message.

CAUSE:

The ASPI driver fails to check all the CPU registers--including the
one that Novell DOS uses to communicate with device drivers.

SOLUTION:

Adaptec has corrected the problem in version 3.02 of the ASPI7DOS.SYS
driver.  A patch for a previous version of the driver (3.0 and 3.01)
can be obtained by contacting Adaptec.  It can also be downloaded
from their BBS--phone 408-945-7727 under the filename UPGRADE3.ZIP.
