NOVELL MAKES NO EXPLICIT OR IMPLIED CLAIMS TO THE VALIDITY OF THIS INFORMATION. --------------------------------------------------------------------- SYMPTOMS: The Novell DOS 7.0 Stacker Virtual Memory Icon is not showing up in the Windows Control Panel. CAUSES: As the Control Panel loads, the WINSWAP.CPL is read and the Virtual memory icon appears ONLY IF all of the above criteria is meet. If any one is not true, the Virtual Memory icon will not appear. If the harddrive(s) is Stac'd and the appropriate files are in the \WINDOWS\SYSTEM , but Windows is in STANDARD MODE, the Stacker Icon WILL NOT show up in the Control Panel. Likewise, if Windows is in STANDARD mode, there is no Windows 386 Enhance Icon in the Control Panel, and thus you cannot setup a Window's swap file; a WINDOW'S SWAP FILE requires enhanced mode. SOLUTIONS: For the icon to show up in the Windows Control Panel, the following must be true: 1. A partition on the harddrive(s) has been compressed with ND7 STACKER 3.12 2. The WINSWAP.CPL exists in the \WINDOWS\SYSTEM . In additional to WINSWAP.CPL the following needed files in the \WINDOWS\SYSTEM : WINSWAP.HLP, WINSWAP.EXE and WINSWAP2.EXE. 3. Windows is in ENHANCED mode. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Any trademarks referenced in this document are the property of their respective owners.
