SYMPTOMS:

When attempting to unstack a stacked drive, they received:

        FATAL ERROR (Press any key to exit)
        Error number 13: Chkdsk error found.
        Please run CHKDSK to correct the problem.

CAUSES:

Pending delete files. Novell DOS 7 DELPURGE found 4 files in the
pending delete stage.

TROUBLESHOOTING:

Tried running CHKDSK /F, CHKDSK /WP, /S, DR DOS CHKDSK /F, MS DOS 6.2
CHKDSK /F, Novell DOS 7 DISKOPT, and Norton Disk Doctor version 8.0,
but none of them reported any problems.

SOLUTION:

Deleted the pending delete files and then UNSTACK D: worked fine. 
Stacker DISKOPT was executed automatically (Stacker 3.1 for Windows
and DOS on the top of the screen), followed by a warning that the
drive would be unstacked and prompted for user verification before
proceding. After the user verification the UNSTACKING took place and
the machine was rebooted.
