If for some reason (either mechanical or user error) the DISKOPT of a Stacker drive is interrupted, it may not mount on boot up. One of the following two error message will be displayed: "E: = C:STACVOL.DSK Reboot during DISKOPT detected - NOT MOUNTED Press any key to continue..." "E: = C:STACVOL.DSK Reboot during DISKOPT detected - (Write Protected) Press any key to continue..." SOLUTION: Stacker Drive NOT MOUNTED When Stacker mounts a Stacker drive it verifies the STACVOL file containing the compressed data. If the Stacker Optimizer (DISKOPT) was interrupted during the "Writing New directories..." stage of optimization, Stacker pauses the normal startup of your computer with this message until the problem is corrected: E: = C:STACVOL.DSK Reboot during DISKOPT detected - NOT MOUNTED Press any key to continue... Determine the name of the STACKVOL file. From the DOS prompt type STACKER and press . Take note of the unmounted STACKVOL file Drive C: was drive E: at boot time [E:\STACVOL.DSK - Not mounted] Run DISKOPT to repair the drive DISKOPT /RESTORE=drive:\STACVOL.XXX where drive:\STACVOL.XXX is the name of the STACVOL file you determined in the previous step. Let DISKOPT repair the Stacker drive and restart your computer. Stacker Drive WRITE PROTECTED When Stacker mounts a Stacker drive it verifies the STACVOL file containing the compressed data. If the Stacker Optimizer (DISKOPT) was interrupted during optimization, Stacker pauses the normal startup of your computer with this message: "E: = C:STACVOL.DSK Reboot during DISKOPT detected - (Write Protected) Press any key to continue..." A CHKDSK on the drive reports: Disk D is currently write protected because DISKOPT was interrupted while optimizing Drive D. To remove the write protection from Drive D run DISKOPT D: Run DISKOPT to repair the drive DISKOPT D: where D: is the write protected drive. Select option "Perform Repairs on Stacker Drive." Let DISKOPT repair the Stacker drive and restart your computer. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Any trademarks referenced in this document are the property of their respective owners.
