SYMPTOM:

When loading Novell DOS 7 on an Amstrad 386SX machine, the machine
hung.  No error messages were displayed; the screen just flashed.

TROUBLESHOOTING:

Novell instructed to boot up and bypass the CONFIG.SYS commands by
pressing <F5>.

Then Novell instructed the user to disable the DEVICE=C:\EMM386.EXE
line in the CONFIG.SYS file by inserting a REM statement at the
beginning of the line.

When the user rebooted the machine, Novell DOS 7 loaded just fine.

SOLUTION:

Use the HIMEM.SYS command with Novell DOS 7.
