DOCUMENT ID: TID015059 DOCUMENT REVISION: 1 DATE: 22Feb1994 ALERT STATUS: Yellow README FOR: NA NOVELL PRODUCT and VERSION: NOVELL DOS 7.0 ABSTRACT: NA --------------------------------------------------------------------- DISCLAIMER: THE ORIGIN OF THIS INFORMATION MAY BE INTERNAL OR EXTERNAL TO NOVELL. The following message was returned: "!!! Stacker not found to relocate - nothing done." 2. In another case, instead of getting an error message, the user would see the Starting DOS message, a blank line, then the machine hung. 3. When the user tried to boot from a Novell 7 floppy diskette, the machine still hung. CAUSES: 1. This message indicates that the STACKER.BIN device driver is not loaded and cannot be put into Upper Memory by the STACHIGH device driver. 2. In this case, the STACKER.BIN file was corrupt. 3. This problem may be caused by Novell DOS trying to load STACKER.BIN from the host drive. TROUBLESHOOTING: 2. The user noticed that the STACKER.BIN file was about 2 KB. SOLUTIONS: 1. The STACKER.BIN device driver needs to be in the root directory of the bootable partition. STACKER.BIN has the (R)ead only, (H)idden, and (S)ystem attributes attached to it. STACKER.BIN can be reinstalled by copying the file from another working copy of Novell DOS 7.0 or by using the following steps: 1. Copy PNUNPACK.EXE and ATTRIB.EXE to the hard disk from the #1 ND7 diskette. 2. Remove the (R)(H)(S) attributes on the STACKER.BIN existing driver (if it exists). 3. Delete STACKER.BIN from the bootable partition. 4. Copy STACKLOAD.BI_ and STACKER.CO_ from the ND7 installation diskettes (diskette #4) to the bootable partition. 5. PNUNPACK STACLOAD.BI_ AND STACKER.CO_ 6. COPY /B STACLOAD.BIN+STACKER.COM STACKER.BIN 7. ATTRIB +RHS STACKER.BIN 8. Reboot the system off the hard disk. 2. Copying a STACKER.BIN file from another machine fixed the problem. 3. In this case, the user had to boot with the DR DOS 6.0 diskette to access the host partition. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Any trademarks referenced in this document are the property of their respective owners.
