Is Novell DOS 7.0 compatible with Windows 95? A. Windows 95 is an Operating System. As with any new operating system, when installed it completely replaces the existing Operating System whether it is Novell DOS, PC DOS or MS DOS. Q. Can Windows 95 be installed on a Novell DOS 7.0 machine compressed with Stacker v3.12 (Licensed version of Stacker that ships with Novell DOS 7.0)? A. No. The licensed version of Stacker (version 3.12) that ships with Novell DOS 7.0 has been modified to work specifically with Novell DOS. If Windows 95 is installed on a drive compressed with Novell DOS 7's Stacker v3.12, data loss may occur. Novell recommends that customers do a full backup of the hard drive and remove Stacker v3.12 before installing Windows 95. Q. Once Windows 95 is installed over Novell DOS 7.0, can Windows 95 be uninstalled back to Novell DOS 7.0? A. Windows 95 completely replaces the DOS operating system when it is installed. If a customer decides they do not like or cannot use Windows 95, customers can, under normal circumstances, UNINSTALL Windows 95 and go back to their previous DOS. However, some customers have reported that the Windows 95 Uninstall does NOT function properly if the previous operating system was Novell DOS 7. Usually, all access to the drive and its data are LOST. Novell strongly recommends that customers with a Novell DOS 7 machine do a full backup of their hard drive before installing Windows 95. **Windows and Windows 95 are registered trademarks of Microsoft Corporation. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Any trademarks referenced in this document are the property of their respective owners.
