TITLE: Dell PC Card Central and Novell DOS 7.0 DOCUMENT ID: TID1003363 DOCUMENT REVISION: 1 DATE: 18MAY95 ALERT STATUS: Yellow README FOR: NA NOVELL PRODUCT and VERSION: Novell DOS 7 ABSTRACT: NA --------------------------------------------------------------------- DISCLAIMER: THE ORIGIN OF THIS INFORMATION MAY BE INTERNAL OR EXTERNAL TO NOVELL. NOVELL MAKES EVERY EFFORT WITHIN ITS MEANS TO VERIFY THIS INFORMATION. HOWEVER, THE INFORMATION PROVIDED IN THIS DOCUMENT IS FOR YOUR INFORMATION ONLY. NOVELL MAKES NO EXPLICIT OR IMPLIED CLAIMS TO THE VALIDITY OF THIS INFORMATION. --------------------------------------------------------------------- SYMPTOM: When loading PC Card Central, it returns a message that the memory range D000-DBFF must be excluded. In the Config.sys the memory range is excluded; DEVICE=C:\NWDOS\EMM386.EXE /EXCLUDE=D000-DBFF. PC Card Central is a Windows application that provides PCMCIA card services support within Windows. CAUSE: PC-Card Central will only load if the CONFIG.SYS uses the exact syntax of the MSDOS memory manager: EMM386.EXE X=D000-DBFF. If that exact syntax is not found the application will not load. PC-Card Central will NOTwork with any memory manager that does not use the exact MS-DOS syntax i.e. Novell DOS 7.0 EMM386.EXE, Quarterdecks QEMM and Qualtis 386MAX. SOLUTION: Dell has been aware of the problem and is looking into the matter. Any fixes or updates to the PC Card Central will come from Dell. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Any trademarks referenced in this document are the property of their respective owners.
