SYMPTOMS:

Novell DOS 7.0s DISKOPT is returning " not enough memory " error when
attempting to optimize a  1GB drive compressed with Novell DOS 7.0
Stacker 3.12.  Customer has 620k free conventional memory.

CAUSES:

If a compressed partition is 1 GB to 2 GB it will have 32k clusters. 
With 32 cluster sizes, DISKOPT may have insufficent memory to run.

SOLUTIONS:

Try removing un-needed TSRs to free up conventional memory.   If,
after memory optimization, DISKOPT still returns " not enough memory
", the DISKOPT that ships with Novell DOS 7.0 does not provide a work
arround.  (This has been seen only on compressed drives 1 GB to 2 GB
in size with 32k clusters.)

A customer has several options:
1.  Use a third party disk optimization utility such as Nortons Speed
Disk from Nortons Utilites v7.0 or v8.0 or Central Points PCTOOLS
disk optimiztion program from PC TOOLS v9.0 for DOS.

2.  Upgrade to retail Stacker 4.0.  Stac Electronics has provided a
work arround with this retail version.  Stacker 4.0's SDEFRAG (disk
optimization utility) has a /buffer=# option which reduces the memory
requirement size.

3.  Backup drive.  Delete Stacker parition.  Create a smaller stacker
parition that will use 16k cluster sizes.  Restore data.  " Not
enough  memory " errors have not been reported by DISKOPT on the
smaller 4k, 8k and 16k cluster size partitions.
