These are files that have the extension .INI and .CFG. DR DOS will look for configuration files by default in the DR DOS directory. There is an optional path that can be created using SETUP in the System Parameter menu, sub menu 6 (in other words 6 levels into the System Parameter menu). +---------------------------------------------------------------+ ¦ Digital Research DR DOS 6.0 SETUP ¦ +---------------------------------------------------------------+ Temporary and Configuration Directories:- Temporary files will be placed in the following subdirectory: c:\temp Configuration files will be placed in the following subdirectory: G:\USERS\USERDIR _ Accept current settings and continue _________________________________________________________________ Entering a directory for configuration files allows you to specify a different drive or directory than the default DRDOS directory. This would be needed in case of a computer that has mapped a DOS directory on the network. The .INI and .CFG files store user preferences for TaskMAX, ViewMAX and other DR DOS applications. These preferences would not necessarily be the same for all users on the network. Changing the location / path for configuration files allows different computers to have their own unique configuration files but still share the same DOS directory from the network. On most networks, system administrators have created a user directory where individuals keep their working files. As the example above indicates simply enter the location where you want the files to be located. Make sure that you have full read/write privileges to the directory.
