ABSTRACT:

491_nwfs_6.exe is a patch file for the Novell Client v4.91 for Windows 2000/XP.
It includes fixes for problems relating to the NWFS.SYS module, found after the
4.91 client update was released.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:

== PRE-INSTALLATION ==

1. This patch is designed to update the Novell Client v4.91 for Windows
2000/XP. Be sure to install only on this version of the client.

== PATCH INSTALLATION ==

1. Expand the self-extracting file 49_nwfs_6.exe (this file) to a temporary
folder.
2. Open the folder.
3. (recommended, but optional) Rename the existing nwfs.sys (with a .old
extension, for example) in the <System_Root>\System32\netware folder.
4. Right-Click on _49_nwfs_6.inf and then click on INSTALL.
5. You will be prompted to reboot. This reboot is required to complete the
installation.

Another method to install is to manually copy and replace the existing nwfs.sys
in directory listed in Step 3, above.

== OVERLAYING THE 4.91 INSTALLATION SET ==

The files in this package can also be overlaid on top of a Novell Client 4.91
installation set so that when SETUPNW.EXE is run to install the Novell client
you will be installing the core 4.91 client and the updates contained in this
package in one operation.

To update the installation set with the file in this patch set, extract this
package to a temporary location, then copy the resultant directory structure to
over the top of the i386 folder in your "Novell Client 4.91" installation. 


ISSUE: 

This version of NWFS.SYS fixes the following issue seen with the 4.91 code:

Fixes included in 491_nwfs_0.exe:

1. Win32 call CreateFile() works with Windows mapping, but not with NetWare
mapping. (10397)

2. NWFS.SYS causes a blue screen when running with MS Verifier application. See
TID 10096015. (398093)

3. Windows 2000 SP4 terminal server hangs when user tries to login. See TID
10096412. (398930)

4. Excel97 files open and saved during Windows shutdown process are deleted.
(10536)

5. File locking issues with customer's application after applying 4.90 SP2D.

6. MS access Database errors. See TID 10096775. (10262)

7. Blue screen on Terminal Server. (10401) 

8. "File is already in use" type error when deleting newly created file with
Windows 2003. See TID 10095692. (395143)

9. Unable to delete files that have recently been opened or created. File locks
were not being properly cleared. (75891)

10. "Cache Exclusive Open" configuration causes inappropriate
ERROR_ACCESS_DENIED. See TID 10095974. (10426)

11. Client displaying incorrect dir/folder entries on refresh. Only occurs if
"Use UTF8 encoding and NCPs" is enabled. (78382)

New Fixes:

19. Unable to create folders at the root of a volume when access through Start
| Run and specifying a Directory Map Object. (91278)

20. Cannot map root with Directory Map Object. This fix requires an updated
novnpnt.dll dated 22Jul2005 or later. See TID 10098415. (91598)
