Novell Client v4.91 for Windows 2000/XP

ABSTRACT:

491_novnpnt_1.exe is a patch file for the Novell Client v4.91 for Windows
2000/XP. It includes fixes for problems relating to the novnpnt.dll module,
found after the 4.91 client update was released.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:

== PRE-INSTALLATION ==

1. This patch is designed to update the Novell Client v4.91 for Windows
2000/XP. Be sure to install only on this version of the client.

== PATCH INSTALLATION ==

1. Expand the self-extracting file 491_novnpnt_1.exe (this file) to a temporary
folder.
2. Open the folder.
3. (recommended, but optional) Rename the existing file (with a .old extension,
for example) which will be replaced with this patch kit in the following
location.
  <System_Root>\System32
     novnpnt.dll
4. Right-Click on _491_novnpnt_1.inf and then click on INSTALL.
5. You will be prompted to reboot. This reboot is required to complete the
installation.

Another method to install is to manually copy and replace the existing
novnpnt.dll in the directory listed in Step 3, above.

== OVERLAYING THE 4.91 INSTALLATION SET ==

The files in this package can also be overlaid on top of a Novell Client 4.91
installation set so that when SETUPNW.EXE is run to install the Novell client
you will be installing the core 4.91 Client and the updates contained in this
package in one operation.

To update the installation set with the file in this patch set, extract this
package to a temporary location, then copy the resultant directory structure to
over the top of the i386 folder in your "Novell Client 4.91" installation.


ISSUE: 

This version of novnpnt.dll fixes the following issues seen with the 4.91 code:
Fixes included in 491_novnpnt_0.exe:

1. IBM laptop with built-in finger print reader can't unlock workstation with
Novell Client installed. See TID 10096485. (10402)

2. Displaying Novell policy option when password change is from Windows
expiration. (10629)

Fixes included in 491_novnpnt.exe/491_pka.exe:

3. Can't do password hint if the action is Email Hint. (397028)

4. Shell Extensions not working. (75967)

5. Novell Client installed through NAL generates roaming profile error. (82701)
New Fixes:

6. Cannot map root with Directory Map Object. This fix requires an updated
NWFS.SYS dated 22Jul2005 or later. See TID 10098415. (91598)
