The Novell Client 4.81 for Windows NT/2000 was discontinued on May 1, 2003. We strongly recommend that you upgrade to the current version of the Novell Client. 2. If you are installing on a ZfD4 managed workstation, do not install the NWGINA from this patch kit! Instead, delete NWGINA.DLL from the temporary folder where this patch is unzipped before installing. See TID 10079069 for more information. == PATCH INSTALLATION == The following installation instructions assume that the Novell Client for Windows NT/2000 v4.81 client has already been installed. Prior to installing any update you should ensure that you have a reliable backup. Right-Click on NT481PT2.INF and then click on INSTALL. This will rename the existing files with a .481PT2 extension, and copy in the new files. You will be prompted to reboot, as a reboot is necessary to enable the files in this patch kit. == .REG FILE FOR Mas90 INSTALL USING 4.81 CLIENT == For WindowsNT4 workstations, run LazyCloseNT4.reg. For Windows2000 workstations, run LazyCloseW2k.reg. The following dword value will be added to the registry: HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\NetWareWorkstation\Parameters\LazyCloseO FF = 1 == INSTALLING UPDATED NWCMD.INF FILES (OVERLAY INSTALLATION ONLY) == This file contains corrected .INFs in the layout necessary for overlaying on a Novell Client 4.81 for Windows NT/2000 (English client) installation set. Copy \NLS\ENGLISH\NWCMD*.* from this patch to the \NLS\ENGLISH directory of the overlay installation source files, then reinstall the client. ISSUE: Some of the changes included in this patch are: .REG FILE FOR Mas90 INSTALL USING 4.81 CLIENT - Novell client is not releasing file locks after an installation of Mas90. Error received after Mas90 installation: "Printer //yyyyyyy// f:\mas90\soa\inst is off line" See TID 10064148. LGNWNT32.DLL & LOGINW32.DLL - Grace login decrements not working if local Login - Client is not notifying at any point about an expired Password - If the user password is expired, the dialog box that the password has expired and x number of grace logins are remaining does not show up. - User is no longer prompted to change the password. - NT credentials pre-populated on AutoAdminQueryNDS - Deframe Client cannot update the password of the user in NDS. See TID 2960972. (287387) - Users with non-English versions of Windows are unable to force-unlock the workstation when another user is logged in. (273928) NDPPNT.DLL - Spoolsv access violation errors and cancelled print job(s) - Updates to the print providers to resolve delayed opening times in MS Word or Excel when disconnected from the network. (Also requires the included NWSPOOL.DLL.) - Spoolsv.exe error installing HP 2000C & 2500C with RMS. See TID 10067744. (2961503) NETWARE.DRV - No longer able to start 16-bit applications. (291158) NOVNPNT.DLL - Statistical Information of volume is not correct (277788) NWCMD.INF FILES - This set of .INF files corrects a installation problem with the compatability mode driver included with the Novell Client 4.81 for Windows NT/2000. These files are appropriate for use only on the English version of the client. As shipped, the Novell Client 4.81 for Windows NT/2000 does not properly bind to multiple virtual adapters on Windows 2000. This would result in problems with the Novell CMD driver (NWCMD.SYS), such that the the devices would display as disabled in the Windows device manager. The problem is evident when using VPN clients in a NWCMD environment. In addition to the obvious communication problem of being unable to 'see' services through a migration agent, the Windows 2000 workstation may also bluescreen. NWDHCOptions.EXE & NWSetup.DLL - DHCP option 85 (Preferred Server) is not correctly handled on Microsoft Windows 2000. More information about this can be found here: 10065177. NWDNS.SYS - Blue Screen after Login NWFS.SYS - Unable to access volume folders via browse or UNC - File Corruption after Backup and Restore using NTBackup / Veritas Backup - Client for Windows NT uses NCP 87,1 instead of 87,4 to move a file or sub-directory - Lotus Notes (and other applications) might hang - NetWare Copy can't copy ".xls" files - Directory name is shortened from ".example" to ".exm" - Queries run against MS Access database located on NetWare server are unacceptably slow. Packet Trace shows an excessive number of record locks. (274666) - Corrects performance problems caused by delays in attempting to locate non-findable resources. This is accomplished by adding a bad name cache. See TID 10065560. (100270872) - Unable to access volume folders via browse or UNC. The error which is returned is: "NetWare path could not be found." This problem occurs only on Windows 2000 machines. - Unable to rename a directory at the root of a NetWare volume after applying the patch NT481PT1.EXE. - Files on Netware server show incorrect time stamp. When viewing the properties of a file on a NetWare volume (using Windows Explorer), the "Creation" and "Accessed" date is correct, but the time is always displayed as 12:00:00 AM. The "Modified" date and time are correct. See TID 10067381. (288955) NWGINA.DLL - Resolves random Blue Screen which may experienced on Windows NT 4.0 only - ForceAutoLogon not honored by 4.80.SP3. We added code to read the ForceAutoLogon-key on Windows 2000 and enable autoAdminLogon if it is set to 1. (270671) - Together with the included NWLSCPT.EXE, addresses several different environment variable issues when using terminal services under Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 and Windows 2000. See TID 2961015. - MS variables not recognized by Novell Client. See TID 10072045. (294245) NWSAP.SYS & NWSNS.SYS - Preferred protocol is set to IP: Client would not RIP for IPX services NWSPOOL.DLL - Using a bindery-mode UNC for a queue (e.g. \\server\queue instead of \\tree\.queue.context), you may find that the Windows printer are no longer working (which had caused long delays in Word and other apps). See TID 10061185. (263287) SRVLOC.SYS - This patch fixes an issue where the 4.80 and 4.81 clients will send SLP multicast traffic even when there is a static scope and DA configured if it fails to make an initial TCP connection to the DA. (277412) VIPX.EXE - On Windows 2000, Revelation software performance is slow, compared to Windows NT 4.0. NOTE: In addition to installing the enclosed VIPX.EXE, download and install Microsoft's Support Pack v2 or later for Windows 2000. (236779) WA.INF - Workstation continually tries to upgrade the Client with a new version. See TID 10065068. WMPRTNT.DLL - Printer settings are overwritten by the printer driver re-distribution. See TID 10065503.
