NOVELL MAKES NO EXPLICIT OR IMPLIED CLAIMS TO THE VALIDITY OF THIS INFORMATION. ----------------------------------------------------------------- INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS: To install Client Fixes: Extract 95250P1.EXE to a network drive or a local drive. To use the automatic or INF install to install the patch execute C32INST.EXE. This will install the following files: LGNW9532.DLL, LOGINW32.DLL, NOVELLNP.DLL, NOVELNPR.DLL, NWGROUP.DLL, NWSETUP.DLL, NWTRANS.INF. Alternatively, you can use the .AOT file included to create a NAL application object to distribute the file. To install Source Routing fixes: THE FIX FOR SOURCE ROUTING requires installation of the client. To install do the following: Copy SROUTE.NLM, SROUTE.MSG, NWSETUP.DLL, NWTRANS.INF to the directory from which you will be installing the Novell Windows 95 v2.5 client. Then execute SETUP.EXE to install the v2.5 client. To install MSBATCH fixes: Extract 95250P1.EXE and copy the files found in the \MSBATCH subdirectory to the directory from which you will be installing the Novell Windows 95 v2.5 client. (This will replace the existing files with the same name) see TID 2905964 for step by step instructions on preforming an MSBATCH installation of the client. ISSUE: Patches to the Novell Client for Windows 95 v2.50 (ie Z.E.N.works v1.0). Symptom: TID 2930206 - Duplicate Win95 Password Dialog Displayed When a users NetWare password expires, a NetWare GUI window pops up during the Login process prompting the user to change their password. At this point the user is given the opportunity to select the systems and servers that they would like to synchronize the new password to. The user is allowed to select Windows 95 as an option to synchronize the new password to. After the password is successfully changed in NetWare, the Windows 95 password change dialog is displayed and requires the user to enter their old Windows 95 password and retype the appropriate new password for the change to be recognized within Windows 95. Then a third dialog is presented asking the user to login to Windows (using the new password). The third dialog is no longer shown with these patches. Solution: Apply LGNW9532.DLL. Two Microsoft files are also needed for this fix. They are MPRSERV.DLL dated 4-13-98 at 127,488 bytes and MSNP32.DLL dated 3-31-98 at 67,584 bytes. See Microsoft document Q191688 for more information on the Microsoft files. NOTE: Applying these two Microsoft files will disable the desktop settings of roaming profiles. Desktop settings will no longer be saved as part of the roaming profile. If this concerns you, contact Microsoft. Symptom: TID 2936712 - NDS Password not synched with NT Domain When a user is prompted to change the NetWare password, the NetWare password is changed, but the NT Domain password remains the same and has to be changed manually. Solution: Apply LGNW9532.DLL. Two Microsoft files are also needed for this fix. They are MPRSERV.DLL dated 4-13-09 at 127,488 bytes and MSNP32.DLL dated 3-31-98 at 67,584 bytes. See Microsoft document Q191688 for more information on the Microsoft files. NOTE: Applying these two Microsoft files will disable the desktop settings of roaming profiles. Desktop settings will no longer be saved as part of the roaming profile. If this concerns you, contact Microsoft. NOTE: For the password synchronization with NT domains to work, open the Password Control panel and make sure all the appropriate password providers are checked. In most cases, all registered password providers (Microsoft and Novell) should be checked. This is the only way Windows knows the passwords are synchronized. Merely having the passwords set to the same thing is not sufficient. Additionally, make sure password caching is disabled on the workstation and no *.pwl files are in the Windows directory. Symptom: TID 2940778 - 95250I1.EXE Doesn't Allow Logout to Work After applying the 95250I1.EXE patch to the v2.5 Novell Client for Win95, logout cannot be executed through Network Neighborhood on specific servers. A user can only logout if logout is executed on the entire tree. Logout through a DOS box is not an issue. Solution: Apply NOVELLNP.DLL Symptom: TID 2938948 - Z.E.N.works : User script not executed On localized versions of Windows 95 (for example, Hebrew or French), when the profile script contains more then one CAPTURE statement, the user login script is not executed. Solution: Apply LOGINW32.DLL Symptom: TID 2938949 - Username not visible on Hebrew Windows 95 On a Hebrew version of Windows 95 (v4.00.950r-7), the layout of the GUI login of the Novell Client 2.5 for Windows 95 is wrong : it is not possible to see the username (the first 13th characters are hidden). In addition to that, the "Ok" button is not visible either. Solution: Apply LOGINW32.DLL Symptom: TID 2939757 - Source Routing problem with W95 v2.5 client Solution: THE FIX FOR SOURCE ROUTING MUST BE MANUALLY INSTALLED. To install do the following: Copy SROUTE.NLM, SROUTE.MSG, NWSETUP.DLL, NWTRANS.INF to the directory from which you will be installing the Z.E.N.works v2.5 client. Then execute SETUP.EXE to install the v2.5 client. Symptom: TID 2938415 - No Permission to Access Resource - W95 v2.5 Users are receiving the following error message when attempting to double-click on NetWare Servers within Network Neighborhood where they have rights, but are not authenticated: " is not accessible. No Permission to access resource." However, you can right-click on the server object and choose authenticate and login just fine. This problem only began after installing the Z.E.N.works Client for Windows 95 (version 2.5). Workstations using the Windows 95 v2.20 client or Windows NT clients do not have this issue. Solution: Apply NOVELLNP.DLL, NOVELNPR.DLL Symptom: TID 2942425 - NetWare Copy fails to copy a file to root Using NetWare Copy to copy a file to root of volume returns: "The path \\server_name\SYS does not exist. .... Do you wish to create a new directory and not a new file?". After selecting either Yes or No the next error is returned" "An error is preventing file from being copied" and the copy operation fails. Solution: Apply NOVELLNP.DLL, NOVELNPR.DLL Symptom: TID 2936820 - GPF with group policies and long group names When long group names exist (ie 40+ characters), GPFs in MPREXE.EXE may occur when group policies are used. Solution: Apply NWGROUP.DLL Symptom: TID 2939192 - MS browsing fails after 95 2.5 client install On a Windows 95 workstation with the Client for Microsoft Networks installed to access a Windows NT Domain, when you install the Novell Client 2.5 for Windows 95, you are not able to access the domain anymore. You get the following error during login : No domain server was available to validate your password. You may not be able to gain access to some network ressources. Solution: This problem is corrected by a registry change. This patch provides two ways to accomplish this change for workstation where the 2.5 client is already installed: 1. By executing C32INST.EXE the registry change will be made (by running NWTRANS.REG). 2. By manually executing the registry file NWTRANS.REG The NWTRANS.INF also has this fix integrated for new installations. Replace the existing NWTRANS.REG file with the one in this patch and install.
