Works 3.0: Words Ending in "S" Not Always Spell Checked (99501)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Works for the Macintosh 3.0
  • Microsoft Works 3.0

This article was previously published under Q99501

SYMPTOMS

In a Word Processing document, spelling errors in singular nouns ending in "s" (such as class, boss, or moss) are not found by the spelling checker if the error is an extra "s" (for example, classs, bosss, mosss). The spelling checker will ignore these words, treating them as if they were correct.

Plural nouns with an extra "s", such as studentss, and adjectives with an extra "s", such as thiss, are accurately flagged as incorrect.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Works version 3.0. This problem was corrected in Works for the Macintosh, version 4.0.
