Installing TCP/IP Utilities on a Remote Boot Workstation (99252)

This article was previously published under Q99252

SUMMARY

When installing the TCP/IP Utilities for Microsoft LAN Manager on a remoteboot workstation, you may encounter one of the following errors:

  • The SETUP program from the \LANMAN.DOS directory instructs you to stop the Workstation service.
  • The TCPSETUP program from the TCP/IP Utilities disk reports :
    Cannot find SETUP.INI

MORE INFORMATION

You need to do two things:

  • Make sure you're logged on as an admin user on the MS-DOS RPL client, or you may not have the necessary permissions to install the utilities into netprog.
  • Create c:\lanman.dos\setup.ini from the MS-DOS RPL client before you try to run TCPSETUP.EXE. It doesn't matter what is in SETUP.INI--a file containing one blank line will work.
