The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft LAN Manager 2.0
- Microsoft LAN Manager 2.1
- Microsoft LAN Manager 2.1a
- Microsoft LAN Manager 2.2
This article was previously published under Q99194 SYMPTOMS
You receive error SYS0234 (more data is available), or Netlogon attempts
to duplicate the UAS database and encounters error Net 3226 (error
synchronizing) followed by SYS0234.
The problem occurs when Netlogon tries to update the BDCs and finds that
the NET.ACC file is not getting updated completely, due to time-outs, and
is becoming corrupted.
Other indications of a corrupted NET.ACC file:
- You try to add a user and are informed by a dialog that you need a
minimum password length of 25000+ characters. When you go to the
security setting screen you receive error sys0234.
- Windows NetAdmin issues an error 'panic' and then displays a default
screen.
CAUSE
These problems usually are caused by the 64K buffer limitation of the
OS/2 APIs used to acquire the data.
WORKAROUND
Use the Windows NetAdmin utility supplied with LAN Manager 2.1a or later,
which uses a different method to retrieve the data and stay within the 64K
buffer limitation.
