When you merge information in Microsoft Works, if you attempt to merge more than 2K of information per record in a single merge, you will receive the following error message:
Field contents too long: continue?

Workaround

To work around this problem, do one of the following:

  • Reduce the number of fields used in the merge and choose Print Form Letters from the File menu. -or-

  • Reduce the amount of data in the fields and choose Print Form Letters from the File menu.

MORE INFORMATION

In Works, you can merge a maximum of 2K (2,048 bytes) per record from a database file to a word processing document. This limitation varies according to the actual number of fields used in the merge and the number of characters that occur in each field of the database.

Selecting Continue for the error message above, prints part of the information and adds random characters.

NOTE: Works 4.0, 4.5, and 4.5a for Windows 95 do not have this limitation.
