Current Server/User Limits for Single Domain Networks (98464)
This article was previously published under Q98464
SUMMARY
The limit for a LAN Manager 2.2 single domain network was 32 total member
or domain controller servers. Patch 01.040 (available from Microsoft
Product Support Services) raises the limit to 128 and removes the danger
of trapping the Primary Domain Controller (PDC) when the limit is reached.
The OS/2 Net Admin tools start to have problems when the total number
of user accounts grows over 2000. The LAN Manager 2.2 Windows Net Admin
program works with larger numbers, probably up to the maximum the OS/2
User Accounts Subsystem (UAS) can handle (about 16,000 users).
Account sync load on the server works best under LAN Manager 2.1a or
2.2, which optimize UAS updating code.
