This article was previously published under Q96615 SYMPTOMS
One of several workstations running a Clipper application fails when
it attempts to open a Clipper spool file. The Clipper application in
question opens many files.
In a reported instance of this problem, the server was upgraded from
3+Open to LAN Manager 2.1 (LAN Man 2.1, OS/2 1.3, HPFS, and NetBEUI) and
had three workstations (MS-DOS 5.0 and Windows 3.1) configured. When a
Clipper application was run, the first two workstations had no problems
but the third failed when it attempted to open a Clipper spool file. In
repeated attempts, the third application was always the one to fail.
CAUSE
This can be caused by the compatibility open problem.
RESOLUTION
Try setting server heuristic 11 to 0. You may also try setting server
heuristic 5 to 0, but change one at a time and try changing 11 to 0 first.
