SUMMARY

When starting the Microsoft Works for Windows tutorial, the following error message may be displayed:
Cannot find tutorial files

MORE INFORMATION

Works for Windows needs to find the following files for the tutorial to run, where <Works path> is the path to your Works directory (usually C:\MSWORKS):
               Filenames Details
   ------------------------------------------------------

   <Works path>\MSWORKS.CBT\WNWORKS.LES 2002978 bytes
   <Works path>\MSWORKS.CBT\WNWORKS.CBT 112816 bytes
   <Works path>\MSWORKS.CBT\CBTLIB2.DLL 14880 bytes

The error can be caused by any of the following reasons:

  1. The tutorial files may not have been installed.

    • Run the Setup program for Works for Windows, choose the Custom Installation button, and select the Program Files and Online Tutorial options.
  2. The MSWORKS.CBT directory may have been deleted, moved, or renamed.

    • Make sure that the directory is named MSWORKS.CBT and is located inside the Works for Windows directory (usually C:\MSWORKS). If necessary, reinstall the tutorial files as noted above.
  3. The files may have been deleted, moved, renamed, or corrupted.

    • Make sure that WNWORKS.LES, WNWORKS.CBT, and CBTLIB2.DLL are in the MSWORKS.CBT directory under their original filenames.
    • Compare the file sizes of WNWORKS.LES, WNWORKS.CBT, and CBTLIB2.DLL to those listed above. If the file sizes are incorrect, delete any remaining files in the MSWORKS.CBT directory and reinstall the tutorial files as noted above.
