This article was previously published under Q94938

SYMPTOMS

Sometimes, if you are using an ISAM database and experience a power failure or you reboot (restart) your computer, running the ISAMREPR.EXE repair utility fails with an Overflow error. This has been reported to occur only during an ISAM operation after a CHECKPOINT statement.

RESOLUTION

In a situation such as this, you will not be able to recover your database. You will have to rely on a backup copy of your database.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a bug in the Professional Edition of Microsoft Visual Basic version 1.0 for MS-DOS and in Microsoft Basic Professional Development System (PDS) version 7.1 for MS-DOS. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
