SUMMARY

Changing a printer driver's Paper Size setting through the Windows Control Panel or the Works for Windows Printer Setup dialog box will not automatically update the Works for Windows page setup. The Page Setup & Margins width and length settings default to 8.5 inches and 11 inches respectively, and unless a template is in use, must be changed manually for every new document that needs other values. Printer settings in use during the creation of a new document are also not saved with the document.

MORE INFORMATION

This behavior occurs in the US version and the international versions.

A workaround for cases when you will use a common specific page size is to save a template with the desired page size settings. However, the template won't be sensitive to changes made in Printer Setup.

To create a template, do the following:

  1. From the File menu, choose Create New File.
  2. Select the type of file you would like to save the page settings for (Word Processor, Spreadsheet, or Database).
  3. From the File menu, choose Page Setup & Margins and enter the desired default page settings for the new file.
  4. Choose the OK button.
  5. From the File menu, choose Save As.
  6. From the Save File As Type box, select WP Template, SS Template, or DB Template, depending on the file type.
  7. Choose the OK button.
