Works Err Msg: No Records in Database (94563)

SUMMARY

When you print labels or form letters in Works for Windows, you may receive the following error message:
No Records in Database.
This error message can occur even though the database already has information entered. It occurs whenever Works for Windows is unable to find non hidden records to merge into the field placeholders in a Word Processor document.

If the above error message is displayed, check the following:

Works for Windows Version 3.0

  1. View the database in List view. If you do not see any records, they hidden. From the View menu, choose Show All Records. Try printing again.
  2. Check the database you have selected for the print merge. If you are printing labels or envelopes, from the Tools menu, choose Envelope and Labels. Next choose the Database button. Select the database you want to use and select OK. If you are printing a form letter, from the Insert menu, choose Database Field. Next, choose the Database button to select the file you want to use and select OK.
  3. To verify that the merge is working correctly, create a new word processing document and insert one database field. From the File menu choose Print Preview. Select the Database you are using for the merge and choose OK.

    If this operation works, there may be some corruption in the original Word Processor document. To remove any corruption, save the file as text, then reopen it, and reinsert the database field placeholders as before.

Works for Windows Version 2.x

  1. View the database in list view. If you do not see any records, they may be hidden. From the Select menu, choose Show All Records to make the records visible, and try the print merge again.
  2. In the Print Form Letters or Print Labels dialog box, make sure that the database you want to merge from is selected. To select the database, press ALT+D and then press the arrow keys until there is a solid bar across the correct database name.
  3. To verify that the merge is operating correctly, create a new Word Processor document and insert one of the database fields. From the File menu, choose Print Form Letters (or Labels), and choose the Preview button.

    If this operation works, there may be some form of corruption in the original Word Processor document. To remove any corruption, save the file as text, then reopen it, and reinsert the database field placeholders as before.
