Form Letter: Database Field in Header Suppresses Text in Body (94150)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Works 2.0
- Microsoft Works 2.0a
- Microsoft Windows 3.0
- Microsoft Windows 3.1
This article was previously published under Q94150 SUMMARY
If a database field placeholder is inserted into the header or footer
paragraph of a form letter in Microsoft Works for Windows, text and borders
at the beginning of the form letter body's first page are truncated. Also,
if the database contains multiple fields but only one field placeholder is
inserted into the header or footer paragraph, attempting to preview the
form letter may cause the machine to stop responding (hang) or cause a
general protection (GP) fault.
MORE INFORMATION
The truncation does not appear in the document window, but does appear in
Print Preview and when printing the document. To correct these problems,
remove all database field placeholders from the header and footer
paragraphs.
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Works versions
2.0 and 2.0a for Windows. This problem was corrected in Works version 3.0
for Windows.
