PMail.exe cannot receive some e-mail messages, and PMail.exe may fail and then close on a Windows CE .NET 4.2-based device (924877)

SYMPTOMSOn a Microsoft Windows CE .NET 4.2-based device, the PMail e-mail application (Pmail.exe) cannot receive some e-mail messages. Additionally, Pmail.exe may fail and then close. When you experience this problem, you may receive the following error message: Critical failure has occurred.
To preserve the integrity of your data, Inbox will exit when you tap
OK CAUSEThis problem occurs because Pmail.exe tries to parse an e-mail message and the e-mail message contains a second instance of a double-header field that is extended to a second line.RESOLUTIONSoftware update informationA supported software update is now available from Microsoft as Windows CE .NET 4.2 Platform Builder Monthly Update (September 2006). You can confirm this by scrolling to the "File information" section of this article. The package file name contains the product version, date, Knowledge Base article number, and processor type. The package file name format is: Product version-yymmdd-kbnnnnnn-processor type For example: Wincepb50-060503-kb917590-armv4i.msi is the ARMV4i Windows CE 5.0 Platform Builder fix that is documented in KB article 917590 and that is contained in the May 2006 monthly update.
