FIX: An access violation may intermittently occur when you run a SQL Server Integration Services package in SQL Server 2005 (924346)

SYMPTOMS

When you run a Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) package in Microsoft SQL Server 2005, the heap may become corrupted. When this heap corruption occurs, an access violation may intermittently occur.

Note This problem is more likely to occur on a multiprocessor computer.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because of a race condition that may occur during the heap space allocation process.

RESOLUTION

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next Microsoft SQL Server 2005 service pack that contains this hotfix.
