RAPID PUBLISHING
RAPID PUBLISHING ARTICLES PROVIDE INFORMATION IN RESPONSE TO EMERGING OR UNIQUE TOPICS, AND MAY BE UPDATED AS NEW INFORMATION BECOMES AVAILABLE. SYMPTOMSWhen trying to install an update to the SP2 Intelligent Message Filter for Exchange
the installer will fail and the following error will be displayed: Error Code:
0x8007FF07. Try to install the update again, or request help from one of the
following resources. No errors are logged in the Application or System logs.CAUSEThe Hkey_Local_Machine\Software\Exchange\ContentFilterVersion key is
missing. This is usually caused by a bad SP2 installation.RESOLUTIONCheck the Hkey_Local_Machine\Software\Exchange\ContentFilterVersion to see if it
exists. If it does not check the Exchange Server Setup Progress.log file to see if
the SP2 installation failed. You may find an entry similar to the following:
Setup encountered a fatal error during Microsoft Exchange Messaging and
Collaboration Services of Update component task. -- ID: 62237 --
CBaseComponent::ScSetup
(f:\tisp2\admin\src\udog\setupbase\basecomp\basecomp.cxx:1401)
Rerun the Setup for Sp2 and check the Exchange Server Setup Progress.log to make
sure there are no fatal errors. Adding this key and setting it to a value of 0 or 2
will cause the setup to hang, and setting it to 1 will fool the setup into thinking
that the update is already installed.
