RAPID PUBLISHING
RAPID PUBLISHING ARTICLES PROVIDE INFORMATION IN RESPONSE TO EMERGING OR UNIQUE TOPICS, AND MAY BE UPDATED AS NEW INFORMATION BECOMES AVAILABLE. SYMPTOMSA user is migrated from one Exchange organization to another using the Qwest
Migration Tool--there may be other products which cause this issue, including
Microsoft solutions, but they have not been verified--people sending to that user
receive a large number of non-deliver reports like the following: From: System Administrator
Sent: Monday, February 06, 2006 3:12 PM
To: user.name@private.domain
Subject: Undeliverable: test
Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients.
Subject: test

The following recipient(s) could not be reached:
user.name@private.domain on 2/6/2006 3:12 PM
No route was found for the recipient server. Please contact your
system administrator. The MTS-ID of the original message is:c=US;a=
;p=Contoso;l=MAILSRV010602062058150258
<mailsrv01.corp.contoso.com #5.4.4> "user.name@private.domain" is the address stamped on the user in both the source
and destination organizations to allow communication between current and former
mail environments while mailboxes are being moved.
CAUSEThe migration tool creates a new user account and mailbox in the destination system
and copies most of the Active Directory properties from the source account to the
newly-created account. One of these properties is "deliverAndRedirect," which
corresponds to the "Keep a copy of the message in this mailbox" checkbox in a user
object's properties. However, because the mailbox created is a stub and the
corresponding target address attribute is not copied, messages with a blank
destination address are created, which causes unexpected results in Exchange. The
"Keep a copy..." checkbox cannot be cleared as it is disabled in the user
interface.
RESOLUTIONTo resolve the issue: - Set the deliverAndRedirect attribute to false in ADSIEdit
or Enter some text into the forwarding address textbox to enable the "Keep a
copy..." checkbox. - Clear the checkbox.
- Clear the preceeding textbox.
