The Antigen license has the status of an expired evaluation license after you update the license file in Antigen for Exchange or in Antigen for SMTP (923178)

SYMPTOMS

You update the license file in Microsoft Antigen 9.0 for Exchange or in Microsoft Antigen 9.0 for SMTP Gateways. You then start the Microsoft Antigen Administrator program. When you do this, the Antigen license has the status of an expired evaluation license.

CAUSE

This issue occurs if one or both of the following registry entries on the computer that is running Antigen point to an incorrect Antigen installation location:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Sybari Software/Antigen for Exchange/DatabasePath

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Sybari Software/Antigen for Exchange/InstalledPath

RESOLUTION

Warning Serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly by using Registry Editor or by using another method. These problems might require that you reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that these problems can be solved. Modify the registry at your own risk.

To resolve this issue, modify these registry entries, and then run the license configuration command. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
  2. Locate and then click the following registry subkey:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Sybari Software/Antigen for Exchange

  3. In the right pane, right-click DatabasePath, and then click Modify.
  4. In the Value data box, type the correct path of the Antigen installation location, and then click OK.
  5. Right-click InstalledPath, and then click Modify.
  6. In the Value data box, type the correct path of the Antigen installation location, and then click OK.
  7. Exit Registry Editor.
  8. Start a command prompt, and then change directory to the Antigen installation location.
  9. Type the following command, and then press ENTER:

    Antigenstarter l

    Note In this command, a lowercase L character appears after "Antigenstarter."
