FIX: Visual Studio 2005 exits unexpectedly when you try to edit an existing DataTable object or add a new DataTable object to the dataset that you are editing (923147)

SYMPTOMS

When you try to edit dataset XML Schema (XSD) in Microsoft Visual Studio 2005, Visual Studio exits unexpectedly. Additionally, this problem occurs when all the following conditions are true:
  • You create a project that connects to a Microsoft SQL Server 2000 database or to a SQL Server 2005 database.
  • You try to edit an existing DataTable object, or you try to add a new DataTable object to the dataset that you are editing.

Note When this problem occurs you do not receive an error message.

RESOLUTION

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next Visual Studio 2005 service pack that contains this hotfix.
