A loan payment may be entered incorrectly in Money 2007 (923030)

SYMPTOMS

When you enter a loan payment in Microsoft Money 2007, the payment may be entered incorrectly. Today's date and the account field may not be automatically filled in.

CAUSE

This problem occurs when you manually enter the transaction because of changes that were made to the Money 2007 program.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, you can edit the transactions before you enter them to make sure that the information is accurate. Alternatively, you can set up Money to automatically enter the transactions for you. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Open Money.
  2. Click Bills.
  3. Verify that you are using Advanced Bills. In the upper-right corner, you see either "Advanced" or "Essential." If you are using Essential Bills, switch to Advanced Bills. To do this, follow these steps:
    1. In the left pane, click Change bill settings.
    2. Click Switch to Advanced Bills.
    3. Select Use Advanced bills.
    4. Click OK.
    5. Click Bills. You are redirected to the Bills Summary window.
  4. Click the bill that you want to edit.
  5. Click Edit, and then select Edit Bill Series.
  6. Click to select the Automatically enter transaction into my register the following number of days before the payment is due check box.
  7. Set the number of days that you want Money to use when Money enters your transaction.
  8. Click OK.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, follow these steps:
  1. Under Bills, click Bill Calendar.

    Locate the date of the next instance of the loan payment.
  2. Double-click the date of the next instance of the loan payment to show the transactions for that date.
  3. Select the appropriate transaction if more than one is listed.
  4. In the Register, click Enter.
  5. Verify that the information is accurate, and then click Record Payment.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
