A memory leak may occur when you use ISA Server 2004 to publish a Web site that uses link translation (922790)

SYMPTOMS

A memory leak may occur when you use Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server 2004 to publish a Web site that uses link translation. The memory leaks occurs in the Wspsrv.exe process. You can see this leak if you use System Monitor to view the Private Bytes counter for the Wspsrv.exe process.

A memory leak may cause ISA Server 2004 to stop responding.

CAUSE

This problem may occur when a Web site uses link translation that translates to the same URL. For example, this problem may occur when you translate http://www.microsoft.com to http://www.microsoft.com.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, install the ISA Server 2004 hotfix package that is dated July 13, 2006. For more information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, use one of the following methods.

Method 1: Do not use link translations that translate to the same URL

Method 2: Restart the ISA Server Firewall service

Periodically restart the ISA Server Firewall service to free leaked memory. To restart the ISA Server Firewall service, follow these steps:

Click Start, click Run, type services.msc, and then press ENTER.
Right-click ISA Firewall, and then click Restart.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
