INTRODUCTION

This article describes the Microsoft Office Word 2003 issues that are fixed in the hotfix package that is dated June 26, 2006.

Issues that the hotfix package fixes

This hotfix package fixes the following issue:

921649 Error message when you click a hyperlink in a Word 2003 document to open an Excel workbook: "Cannot open the specified file"

This hotfix package fixes the following issues that were not previously documented in a Microsoft Knowledge Base article:

Consider the following scenario. You use Word 2003 to read or to edit e-mail messages in Microsoft Outlook. You open an attachment in an e-mail message in the Reading pane. You add an additional toolbar or change the layout of the toolbars. You then exit and restart Microsoft Outlook. In this scenario, the additional toolbar or the layout of the toolbars are not retained when you open the attachment of the e-mail message in the Reading pane.

This problem occurs when one or both of the following options are enabled on the Mail Format tab in Outlook.

Note To locate the Mail Format tab, click Options on the Tools menu.
- Use Microsoft Office Word 2003 to edit e-mail messages
- Use Microsoft Office Word 2003 to read Rich Text e-mail messages
When you click Print on the File menu in Word 2003, the Print dialog box may take longer to open than you expect. This problem may occur when there are many available printers.
When you paste a LISTNUM field from one document to another document in Word 2003, you may experience one or more of the following symptoms:
- The LISTNUM field is not pasted.
- A blank line is pasted.
- An existing LISTNUM field may disappear.
- You receive the following error message:
  Microsoft Office Word has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
  When you view the data in the error report, the report contains an error signature that resembles the following error signature:
  Application name Application version Module name Module version Offset
  Winword.exe 11.0.6568.0 Winword.exe 11.0.6568.0 00006218
