SYMPTOMS

You receive a non-delivery report (NDR) when you try to send an e-mail message to an e-mail address that starts with an apostrophe in Microsoft Exchange Server 2003.

This issue may occur if all the following conditions are true:
  • You send the message by using Web Distributed Authoring and Versioning (WebDAV).
  • The recipient's e-mail address starts with an apostrophe.
  • The apostrophe is removed when the message is processed.
In this scenario, the e-mail address is incorrect when the message reaches the recipient's e-mail server because the address does not contain the apostrophe.
