SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario. You print multiple copies of a document that contains an odd number of pages in one of the programs that are listed in the "Applies to" section. You use a PostScript printer driver to print and to collate the copies. In this scenario, when you use a large copier-based printer, the first page of the next copy prints on the back of the last page of the previous copy.

CAUSE

This issue may occur when the collate option is selected in both the Microsoft Office program and in the printer driver.

The collate option is stored by the printer driver in a non-public binary large object. Therefore, the Office program cannot determine whether the collate option is selected by the printer driver. When the collate option is selected by both the printer driver and the Office program, the collate option may not function as expected.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, disable the collate option in either the printer driver or the Office program.

To disable the collate option in the printer driver, see the manufacturer's documentation for the printer.

To disable the collate option in an Office program, click Print on the File menu, and then click to clear the Collate check box in the Print dialog box.
