You cannot see the LifeCam Dashboard button in the video call window when you use a LifeCam together with Windows Live Messenger to make a video call (921328)

SYMPTOMS

When you use a Microsoft LifeCam together with Windows Live Messenger to make a video call, you cannot see the LifeCam Dashboard button in the video call window.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs when the LifeCam is not selected as the default camera.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this behavior, follow these steps:
  1. In Windows Live Messenger, if you cannot see the menu, click Show Menu.
  2. On the Tools menu, click Audio and Video Setup.
  3. Click Next three times. On the Webcam Setup page, verify that the LifeCam is selected on the Select the webcam you would like to use drop-down list.
  4. Click Finish.
