SYMPTOMSOn Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 (MCE), you can use the Media State Aggregation Service (MSAS) to obtain events from the MCE shell. When you do this, you can display the status of Media Center on a front panel display or for a device driver. The MSAS events are not sent to an application that is running on a Media Center Extender.STATUS This behavior is by design.MORE INFORMATIONThe MSAS is designed to run on a host computer to display events from Windows Media Center on devices such as front panel displays. The MSAS service does not support monitoring events on an extender.
