FIX: Error message when you try to compile a large intermediate language file by using the Ilasm.exe tool in the .NET Framework 2.0: "Duplicate global label '_MF_LIT_530223'" (921118)

SYMPTOMS

When you try to compile a Microsoft intermediate language (MSIL) file that is 198 MB or larger by using the Intermediate Language Assembler (ILASM) in the .NET Framework 2.0, you receive the following error message:
Error number: class1.il (4814254)
Duplicate global label '_MF_LIT_530223' '
Note The label that is reported in the error message is declared only one time.

RESOLUTION

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next .NET Framework 2.0 service pack that contains this hotfix.
