Bug #: 432866 (SQLBUDT) Bug #: 922 (SQL Hotfix)
SYMPTOMSConsider the following scenario. You install Microsoft BizTalk Server 2006 and Microsoft SQL Server 2005 on a computer. SQL Server Agent runs a job to clean up the spool table. In this scenario, SQL Server Agent cannot run any more jobs. Additionally, some of the existing jobs are marked with a status of "Executing: 0(unknown)". When you try to run a newly created job, you receive the following error message: Start failed for Job 'JobName'.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: An exception occurred while executing a Transact-SQL statement or batch. (Microsoft.SqlServer.ConnectionInfo) Unable to post notification to SQLServerAgent (reason: The maximum number of pending SQLServerAgent notifications has been exceeded. The notification will be ignored.) (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 22022)
In this scenario, you can stop and then restart SQL Server Agent. This action returns all jobs and temporarily resolves the problem. However, you may experience this problem again when SQL Server Agent runs more cleaning jobs. STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
