SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2003, you try to debug a Microsoft Visual Studio 6.0 embedded executable file that contains CodeView debug information (Z7). When you do this, the Visual Studio .NET 2003 development environment (Devenv.exe) closes unexpectedly. Additionally, you receive the following error message:
Error details
An unhandled exception has been caught by the VSW exception filter.

Error signature
AppName: devenv.exe AppVer: 7.10.3077.0 ModName: sdm2.dll
ModVer: 7.10.3077.0 Offset: 0000de40

RESOLUTION

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing.
