SYMPTOMS

When you use the mail merge feature to merge a Microsoft Access database table that contains Rich Text Format (RTF) text with a Microsoft Office Word 2007 document, the RTF text is not merged with the document.

CAUSE

This issue occurs because Word 2007 cannot interpret RTF text in a database from another program when you perform a mail merge.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, create a query in Microsoft Access. Then, use the query results as the mail merge data source.
