An unattended installation of Windows Fundamentals for Legacy PCs is not completed successfully (920318)
The information in this article applies to:
- Windows Fundamentals for Legacy PCs
SYMPTOMSConsider the following scenario:
- You create an output file that you can use in an unattended
installation of Microsoft Windows Fundamentals for Legacy PCs. To do this, you
run the Setup program by using the following command-line option:
setup.exe /guionly:A:\OutputFileName.txt - During the graphical user interface (GUI) part of the
Setup program, you do not click to select the Generate All
Values check box.
- After you create the output file, you use it to perform an
unattended installation of Windows Fundamentals for Legacy PCs.
In this scenario, the installation of Windows Fundamentals for
Legacy PCs is not completed successfully. CAUSEThis problem occurs because the product ID (PID) key is not
specified in the output file. The PID key is only added to the output file if
you click to select the Generate All Values check box.
Therefore, if you do not click to select the Generate All
Values check box, the PID key is not included in the output
file.WORKAROUNDTo work around this problem, manually add the PID key to the
output file.STATUSMicrosoft
has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed
in the "Applies to" section.
