This article lists the minimum system requirements that you must have to run Microsoft Works 8.0.

The minimum system requirements that you must have to run Works 8.0 are as follows:
  • A multimedia computer that has a Pentium 120 MHz or faster processor
  • One of the following operating systems:
    • Microsoft Windows 98 Second Edition
    • Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition
    • Microsoft Windows 2000 with Service Pack 3 installed
    • Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition
    • Microsoft Windows XP Professional Edition
  • The appropriate amount of memory for the operating system that you are running, as follows:
    • A minimum of 64 MB of RAM for Windows 98 Second Edition or for Windows Millennium Edition (128 MB of RAM is recommended)
    • A minimum of 128 MB of RAM for Windows 2000 with Service Pack 3, for Windows XP Home Edition, or for Windows XP Professional Edition
  • A minimum of 225 MB of hard disk space.
  • Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 software

    Note Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 Service Pack 1 is included with the Internet Explorer 6 software. To accommodate Internet Explorer 6, up to an additional 50 MB of hard disk space may be required on the hard disk on which the operating system is installed. Your primary browser is not replaced when you install Internet Explorer 6.
  • One of the following devices:
    • A device that runs Microsoft Windows CE 2.0 or a later version of Windows CE together with Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync 3.0
    • A device that runs Palm OS 3.0 or a later version of Palm OS together with Palm HotSync 2.0 or a later version of HotSync, for synchronization of Works data
  • A CD drive that is 4x or faster
  • A 16-bit color monitor that supports a minimum resolution of 800 x 600
  • A Microsoft Mouse pointing device, a Microsoft IntelliMouse pointing device, or another compatible pointing device
  • A 14,400 bps or faster modem for MSN services
