How to upgrade the evaluation version of Antigen 8.0 for Exchange to a licensed version (920138)

INTRODUCTION

This article describes how to upgrade the evaluation version of Sybari Antigen 8.0 for Microsoft Exchange to a licensed version.

To upgrade the evaluation version of Antigen, you must have a licensed copy of the License.cfg file. Additionally, we recommend that you perform this upgrade on the latest version of Antigen.

To verify that you are running the latest version of Antigen, visit the following Sybari Web site:To upgrade the Antigen program, use one of the following options.

Option 1: Add the license file before you install Antigen 8.0

To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Decompress the Antigen compressed file to a folder that you will use for the installation.
  2. Rename the original license file in the installation folder. For example, rename the original License.cfg file "Original_License.cfg."
  3. Copy the new License.cfg file to the installation folder.
  4. If this installation is a clean installation of the product, run Setup.exe from the installation folder. The upgrade is now complete.

    If this installation is an upgrade of an earlier installed version of Antigen, run Setup.exe with the license switch.

    For example, the evaluation version of Antigen 7.0 is installed, and you want to upgrade to a licensed version of Antigen 8.0. To do this, open a command prompt, move to the installation folder, and then type the following command:

    setup license

Option 2: Activate the license after you install Antigen 8.0

To do this, use one of the following methods:

Method 1: Activate the license from the command line

To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Rename the original license file in the installation folder.
  2. Copy the new License.cfg file to the installation folder.
  3. At the command prompt, move to the installation folder, and then type the following command:

    AntigenStarter l

    Note The character that you must type after "AntigenStarter" is a lowercase L.

Method 2: Activate the license from Antigen Central Manager

  1. Rename the original license file in the installation folder.
  2. Copy the new License.cfg file to the installation folder.
  3. Click Start, point to Programs, point to Antigen for Exchange, and then click Antigen Central Manager.
  4. On the Jobs menu, click Create Job.
  5. Under Job Settings, click Deploy License in the Task list.
  6. Click Add.
  7. In the Available Servers pane, locate and then click the computer that you want.
  8. Click the double-arrow button that points to the left to add the computer to the Selected Servers pane, and then click OK.
  9. Click Options.
  10. Click the ellipsis button to the right of the License Source Folder box. Then, locate and then click the installation folder to which you copied the License.cfg file. This folder can be identified by locating the following files in this folder:

    Antitsk.exe
    Antisvc.exe

  11. Click OK three times.
  12. In the Antigen Central Manager main window, click the Deploy License job that you just created.
  13. On the Jobs menu, point to Start Jobs, and then click Start Selected Jobs.
  14. Wait for the following message to appear in the Status column:The job has completed successfully.

Method 3: Activate the license in Sybari Enterprise Manager

If you are running Sybari Enterprise Manager, you must follow these steps to activate the license:
  1. Open the Sybari Enterprise Manager Console.
  2. Click the License Configuration link.
  3. Click Browse, and then point to the path in which the License.cfg file is located.
  4. Click Upload New License File.
