The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft BizTalk Server 2004 Standard Edition
  • Microsoft BizTalk Server 2004 Partner Edition
  • Microsoft BizTalk Server 2004 Enterprise Edition
  • Microsoft BizTalk Server 2004 Developer Edition

SYMPTOMS

When you install or uninstall a Microsoft BizTalk Server 2004 hotfix, some Business Rule Engine values in the Microsoft Windows registry are reset to the default values. When the Business Rule Engine values are reset to the default values, you may experience decreased performance in BizTalk Server 2004.

Consider the following scenario. Your BizTalk Server 2004 configuration uses many business rules to process messages. You modify the CacheEntries value in the Windows registry from the default value of 32 to a value of 512. You do this to improve performance and to enable BizTalk Server 2004 to cache more business rules. Then, you install a BizTalk Server 2004 hotfix. You examine the CacheEntries value in the Windows registry. In this scenario, the CacheEntries value is the default value of 32. When this problem occurs, you may experience decreased performance in BizTalk Server 2004.
