Error message when you switch to a different user account by using the Fast User Switching feature in Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005: "Files needed to display video are not installed or not working correctly" (920076)

SYMPTOMS
Consider the following scenario. You play a video in Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005. Then, you switch to a different logged-on user account by using the Fast User Switching feature. When you switch back to the original user account and then try to resume the video, you receive the following error message:
Video Error: Files needed to display video are not installed or not working correctly. Please restart Media Center and or restart the computer.
The problem occurs when you play videos that have the following file formats: - Audio Video Interleaved (AVI)
- Moving Picture Experts Group (MPEG)
- Windows Media Video (WMV)
WORKAROUND
To avoid this problem, stop the video before you use Fast User Switching to switch to a different user account. If you have already received this error message, press BACK on the remote, and then restart the video. Or, exit, and then restart Media Center.
